May
May Outing at “Dirty Dan”
At the April meeting it was decided that we would have an outing at Dirty Dan in May. The outing will be on SUNDAY, May 15th, with a detector hunt, raffle & lunch.
This outing will be a bit different from our other recent outings in that we're asking for RSVP's. It's not that you cannot come if you DON'T RSVP, but we kind of need to know how many to expect for lunch-planning purposes. The last thing we need is mutiny because we don't have enough burgers or dogs for hungry
prospectors! So please RSVP to HDGDPresident@gmail.com by Thursday, May 12th.
We'll have a $15 detector hunt at 10am, with gold as the main prizes! (The amount of gold will be determined by the # of participants.) Of course there will be coins in the field, and other prizes as well, so don't forget your detectors, digging
tools, water, sunscreen and hats.
Just in case you didn't participate in, or do so well in, the hunt, we'll also be having a raffle. Have some extra cash on hand for this one and see John for your tickets.
You can buy your raffle tickets while I burn some club-provided burgers and dogs for the noon-ish potluck lunch. Bring yourself and your side dish for this yummy event!
I'm thinking about bringing the paint and brushes for some claim
maintenance, which, in case you didn't know it, is 160 acres. So - I'm thinking about accessing all of the posts via quad. We'll see.
While Dirty Dan is not often frequented (that I'm aware of) , I can tell you that within the last year and a half, gold has been retrieved there by drywashing.
Of course you can go any day you like, and dry camp for up to 14 days (BLM rules), but the main event is Sunday. Please contact me if you need directions, or want to follow Jim & I out to the claim early Sunday morning. Otherwise, we hope to see you there.
REMEMBER TO RSVP, PLEASE.
Memorial Weekend Outing
We've been invited to PCSC's next outing. It will be at the Pilgrim Camp, May 27th - 30th (Memorial Day
Weekend). Pilgrim Camp is near Randsburg. This is your chance for a 4-day outing, made easy with the following available meals (PCSC is taking donations): Breakfast on Friday, Saturday Sunday, & Monday; Lunch on Saturday & Sunday. Due to the generous donations of hungry miners at previous outings, PCSC is be able to provide the main course for both the Saturday & Sunday potluck dinners, but please bring a side dish to share.
Weather (& restrictions) permitting, there will be campfires, so bring wood. There will be the usual free Detector Hunt on Saturday, featuring gold dust. Following this hunt will be a donation based hunt. A donation of $10 per person will allow the planting of one token per every two entrants, which, when found, will be redeemable for 1/2 oz. silver rounds. These are very good odds!
